As part of the accessibility program for the London underground, we have worked over several years testing and developing a durable, long lasting floor signage solution.
The current options for a floor signage is a commercially rated floor sticker which is laminated and glued in position. Unfortunately due to the high levels of foot fall on the platforms the sticker wears and becomes a trip hazard and is therefore changed on a regular basis.
Our porcelain solution is not only durable the wear rating is approximately 15 times the wear rating of the sticker solution.
We screen print the graphic onto a white porcelain large format tile and over glaze the tile with an Anti Slip glaze to achieve over a PTV 36+. It’s then Kiln fired at over 1250c fusing the colours to the tiles for the permanent solution.
